iDeal of Sweden’s new “Into the night” collection.

Last year iDeal of Sweden broke all records with insane amounts of orders from fashionable consumers all over the world. With Black Week less than a week away, we asked Adam Gudmundsson, Technical Development Manager, about the plans for this year!

How do you prepare for this year’s Black Week?
Plan, prep, and execute!
Because of how massive the last quarter is, our preparations begin early in the year. This of course includes the following Christmas sales.

Other than large efforts from every single department, such as preparing media, warehousing, collaborations, support, and advertising, we have throughout the year focused on improving all functions and adding more automation.

The accuracy of any type of forecast is A-Z. Expected orders, support tickets, outbound capabilities, etc. Our entire organisation plans accordingly, and we’d rather be on the high-end to ensure the customer experience is top-notch.

IDEAL OF SWEDEN is most probably one of the companies that handle the most amount of orders in the Nordics during this short period, so all operations need to be on point.

What lessons do you bring from last year?
We find it incredibly important to review what we do, so there are a lot of improvements this year, and the same will be true for the next year.

Many of our partners were surprised when we called for Q4 meetings before the summer but we believe, whether it is Black Week or any other major season, that planning in time and keeping agile to changes is key.

In terms of lessons, there is not one thing that will work entirely the same as last year, everything has been optimized or changed in some way, for the better.

I have a hard time pinpointing a few single major lessons, as we believe it’s mainly in the details, and every little bit can cause success or an avalanche.

How have you been affected by Covid-19?

From a business perspective, we have faired rather well.

We also do not accept any excuses that we can not control, so with COVID-19 around, we focus on how we best adapt to the situation.

It’s “how well are our improvements working?”, instead of “this is not working because of COVID”.

There is a big focus on keeping everyone safe and re-shaping how we work while doing our best to provide our customers with updated information and options to allow them to safely and timely receive their packages.

What is the best feature in Ingrid Delivery Checkout to ensure a great Black Week?

There are several features we rely on from Ingrid during this period, some that help with conversion and others that increase customer experiences.
To pick one, I’d have to go with the tracking function and the new custom events, where we can more closely keep the customers up to date on how their order is progressing, even before they are sent.

We believe transparency is key when keeping our customers updated, therefor we really appreciate having one place of information for all things delivery.
